Gopher Request FAQs

What are your hours?

Gopher Requests are available 24/7/365. If there is a Gopher requested and a Gopher available, we go to work!

Gopher charges the following fees to make a request:

Gopher Fees | This ranges from $0.99 to $4.99, depending on type of service requested.

Instant Transfer Fee | This fee is 8% of the total request amount. This fee covers the operating cost to ensure the Gopher is paid immediately upon completing your request.

Age-Restricted Fee (if applicable) | $1.99 covers the cost of the age-restricted safeguarding in place.

Gopher TrustShield Discount (for age-restricted deliveries) | $1.00 will be deducted from all age-restricted requests if you add the free Gopher TrustShield.

For example, if you made a request for a “Delivery – General Errand,” wanting to pay a Gopher a total of $30, it would cost $33.47. (Cost of Goods = $20, Gopher Offer = $10, Gopher Fee = $0.99 and Instant Transfer Fee = $2.48) The Gopher would receive all $30 of your offer, costing you only $3.47 to use the app.

Knowing the cost of the items you want, availability and store hours is important because once the Gopher accepts the request, they are doing so in good faith that everything being requested is available and priced accordingly. This allows you to order the items you need without costly markups. In the event the cost of goods submitted is a little off, your Gopher can submit a COST ADJUSTMENT for the correct amount. We just ask you to be as close as possible.

Your request should be as descriptive as possible… the more info the better. Keep in mind, no-one knows what you want done better than you, so take your time in describing EXACTLY what it is you want so there is no confusion. Example of what not to do: “Need mulch spread in my backyard.” Example of what to do: “I need 12 yards of mulch laid in my backyard. Mush have own equipment (while also supplying any relevant picture available) *Also, we strongly recommend NOT putting your phone number in the request. We’ve provided the ability to communicate before and during your request through the app.

Most people have been conditioned to Google the type of service they need for the home (or ask for recommendations on their favorite social platform). Either way it’s you that ends up having to search for all the help. On the Gopher Marketplace, you list the service you need done, for the price you’re willing to pay (or you can ask for a bid) and the help comes to you. You can then see each workers ratings, reviews, work history and recommendations to make your selection.

Home Service providers on the Gopher Go app will find it refreshing that they don’t have to pay for leads to see jobs, they’ll know exactly how much they’re being paid for a job before starting and are paid immediately once the job is complete.

If you inadvertently signed up for the opposite Gopher app, don’t sweat it. Your Gopher profile applies to both apps. Just download the correct app and sign in with your phone number, apply the OTP and you’re all set! At the bottom of the apps home page, you’ll see a Refer App icon. When you open the link, you’ll see your referral code. When you refer friends via the Message and/or Email feature, you will see a “check referral status,” showing all pending SMS and Emails sent, as well as those who signed up from your referral link.

In the “More” section of the app (bottom right icon on floorboard, you’ll see the Help Center link. From there you’ll see “Send us a message.”

Yes, during the request submission process, you must agree to our age-restricted waiver, stating you understand you must show a valid ID before receiving any age-restricted items, and acknowledge if an order is placed without being able to provide a valid ID at delivery, there will not be a refund for the cost of the items nor the Gopher offer. Our unwavering compliance here represents our commitment to follow the letter and spirt of the law, ensuring minors, or any other ineligible parties are unable to use the Gopher app for Age-Restricted item delivery and/or purchase.

No, you can make any offer amount for any request you choose. However, if you’re new to Gopher, please look at your offer as a wage and not a “tip.” The Gopher platform is a marketplace and therefore the Gophers you hire work for you and not Gopher, Inc. Gopher is not a guaranteed fulfillment platform where undervalued tips are accepted. For example, if you’re wanting a unique delivery service, where your Gopher will spend somewhere between 1/2 hour to an hour, think about what it would take for you to do that job. When the offer is fair, you’ll get whatever you need FAST! If the offer isn’t realistic to a working wage, you likely won’t.

If no one accepts your request, it will expire and there will not be a charge, not even a pre-authorization.

Your Gopher is encouraged to start correspondence with you immediately after accepting a request. If you’ve chosen FIRST AVAILABLE and/or NOTIFY A FAVORITE GOPHER no action is needed on your part. You’ll see where your Gopher is located from start to finish and receive alerts at each relevant stage of the process. If you chose the SELECT MY GOPHER option, you’ll be able to review each interested Gopher’s ratings, reviews and work history prior to making your selection.

On the App’s dashboard at the bottom of the screen, select “Account” and then “Request History.” You will be able to see all previously completed, expired and/or cancelled requests. From there, you can select REQUEST AGAIN (making any changes you want as well).

Yes, for requests involving a pick up and drop off, once your Gopher selects “in-progress,” your request screen will show a map of the Gophers location relative to the destination(s).

Please rate your Gopher on accuracy, their communication (keeping you informed as to the status of your request), quality of work and timeliness of completing your request.

Enter the final destination address when entering the address of a “multiple-stop” request, then enter the other address(s) in the description section. (*) We recommend entering the address of a store vs just the name in the event there is more than 1 location.

When you submit your request and it is accepted, Gopher, Inc. transfers the money from the method of payment you’ve selected, to a holding account to ensure the entire request amount is available once the request is completed. In the event the request is not completed, the money authorized will be released back to the card on file. Please see our Terms and Conditions as to any related scenarios regarding payments, refunds or disputes. This is a VERY important part of our business, so ensuring we’re efficient, safe and secure with all transactions will always be at the forefront of our business model. We understand this is as equally important to our users and that is exactly why we chose Stripe as our trusted payment transaction partner.

If your request is accepted and the Gopher has updated the request to “in-progress,” you may be charged up to $5 for cancelling. In addition to the $5 cancellation fee, if your Gopher has updated the request to “items purchased” (representing they have already incurred an out-of-pocket expense), you may be responsible for the items purchased amount as well. Please see our Terms and Conditions for complete details.

Fortunately this is rare (especially when they initially pay for your items out of pocket) however, if your Gopher brings you the wrong item(s), and your description (including pic) were clear, you can Dispute your request with comments as to why you’re disputing the order in the app. This immediately alerts your Gopher where they are instructed to resolve the issue. Suggested options for the Gopher would be to return to the store where purchased and exchange for the correct item(s) or cancel the order (which results in no charge to you). In this scenario, resolution is between the Requestor and the Gopher. The features in the app can perform to whatever your resolution is. If you make a dispute, please allow for the Gopher to make it right, especially if an out of pocket expense has been made. DO NOT select “unable to resolve” without allowing them the opportunity to correct AND communicating what needs to be done in the message section of the app. If you ever need help in a situation like this, please don’t hesitate to contact at support@gophergo.io.

Users have the option to set the price for a service (“You make the price offer“) or if unsure what a fair price would be for what you’re asking, you can broadcast your request for Gophers to bid on (“Allow a Gopher to make the offer“). If you select for a Gopher to make the offer, you can accept or decline the offers as the come in.

You can add to your Favorite Gophers list the following ways:

1) Go to Account🡪Request History, a checkbox to add the Gopher who completed your request is available.

2) At the end of a completed request, during the ratings portion, you can also add that Gopher as a Favorite.

After you have at least 1 Favorite Gopher added, when submitting a request, added to the “First Available” and “Select My Gopher” options will be “Notify one of my Favorite Gophers.” Selecting this will ensure that your Favorite Gopher is notified before anyone else. If that Gopher isn’t available, it will default to “Select My Gopher” for you to choose.

No, Negative, Never! During the request submission process, you must agree to our Age-Restricted waiver, stating you understand you must show a valid ID before receiving any age-restricted items, and acknowledge if an order is placed without being able to provide a valid ID at delivery, there will not be a refund for the cost of the items nor the Gopher offer. We’re unwavering here to follow the letter and spirt of the law, ensuring minors, or any other ineligible party are unable to use the Gopher app for Age-Restricted item delivery and/or purchase.

There are usually only a couple reasons a request isn’t accepted:

  • We may not have enough Gophers in your area yet. Anytime a request is submitted in a new area, we get to work on recruiting available Gophers in that area (please be patient with us as we’re just venturing outside of Raleigh, NC).
  • The offer may have been deemed too low for the Gophers in your area. Remember the offer to your Gopher is 100% what they make for the job. They work for you, not Gopher, Inc. Gopher is a platform to hire worker, much different than a service that has workers and allows tips. For delivery requests, we’ll help suggest a price using previous request information. At the end of the day, we still allow you to make whatever offer you want.

In some cases, especially with iOS, previous version bugs will stick around. A known remedy here is to delete the app from your phone and reinstall (Do NOT delete your Gopher account, just the app on your phone) This will remove all previous version data from your phone. Reinstalling the app from the App or Play Store will likely solve the issue. In the rare case it doesn’t, please report the  issue by emailing support@gophergo.io or in the Help Center in your app.

We encourage you to look at it this way, “I’m hiring you to do X for $Y.” On our end, if your offer is below the average accepted offer, you’ll see a pop-up and we’ll share what the average offer for that request category is. That said, you can still offer whatever amount you want.

If you set up your Gopher Request Account with an alias, you will not be able to apply for Gopher TrustShield.

  • If you have been using Gopher Request and want to keep your request history, you will need to email a clear picture of the Front and Back of your ID to support@gophergo.io.
  • If you have no activity on your Gopher Request account, please delete you account and sign up again. Before saving your profile, you’ll have an opportunity to check to see if you’re information is entered correctly.

Never do this! Gopher can only fulfill transactions made using the platform. If the Gopher is stating they need additional money outside the app, that is a violation of our terms and conditions, and you should contact us immediately. Before a request is accepted, if items require a purchase, the Gopher must confirm they have the funds needed, and if not, should NOT accept the request.

This would represent a poor Wi-Fi and/or data connection. Often times you’ll still be able to make your request; however, our app is just letting you know the signal is very weak.

When submitting an age-restricted request, you will receive multiple pop-up confirmations in order to move to the next step regarding the mandatory requirement to show a valid government issued ID during the delivery. We remind users that with every age-restricted delivery request, they must be present with their ID at the item(s) exchange OR the Gopher is entitled to the entire amount offered for the request. This is not negotiable nor refundable, so if you do not have your ID, please DO NOT make a request for age-restricted product delivery.

Common sense is king here. If a potential worker asks the dimensions of a couch (especially if that info was left out), by all means, answer them. If they are asking for phone, address (they already know the general area for distance so now need to ask) , or any other info they shouldn’t be asking for, please flag the message and contact Gopher Support. You’re never obligated to respond to a question from a potential worker, however if it is a relevant question, we encourage you to answer it. The messaging feature for a pending request is indented to fill any gaps pertaining to the job. Once you are connected to your Gopher, you can communicate via text of call without any restrictions.

That is 1 of 2 issues

1 – a photo permissions issue from your phone. Please go to you phone settings, select the Gopher Go app and make sure your camera/photos settings are set to allow.

2 – you’re trying to submit a photo the is in “live mode.” This is basically the equivalent of a video. If you take the live mode off and submit as a regular photo it will work.

That sounds like a location permissions issue from your phone. Please go to your phone settings, select the Gopher Go app and make sure your location settings are set to “allow.”

That would depend on where the driver is relative to the pick-up and drop off. As a best practice we on-board drivers with the expectation that deliveries should be completed in less than an hour. Even when you select “First Available” and “Need it Now” for your request timing, if a driver accepts your request outside of 15 miles, you have to approve that worker to help meet that expectation. If you need something much faster, we encourage you to say that in your description.

Gopher Go FAQs

What are your hours?

Gopher Requests are available 24/7/365. If there is a Gopher requested and a Gopher available, we go to work!

Anytime there is a “Cost of Goods” amount listed in a request, that means the Requestor is paying you that amount, to pay on their behalf. For example, if you want a meal delivered from a Food Truck, and that Food Truck has no way for the Requestor to pay for the food in advance, they will enter the amount in the Cost of Goods section for you to pay on their behalf. Therefore you will have to pay for the items yourself initially (the money will already be in escrow and GUARANTEED to you immediately upon completion.) We understand this is different than most fulfilment apps, however this keeps costs for everyone involved way down. The Merchants, Requesters and Gophers all benefit this way. If you aren’t interested in these transactions or do not have the funds to cover the Cost of Goods, please DO NOT accept the request.

When a Gopher signs up, they receive their 1st 10 payouts at Stripe’s “Standard” US payout speed (Typically 2 hours from the time the customer confirms the request).

After 10 successfully completed requests, the Gopher’s payout status is upgraded to “Instant Payout” and from there, payouts are immediately deposited after a completed request (1-2 minutes).

Gopher Pros start with Instant Payout.

Payouts are initiated when a Gopher updates the request status to “Complete” in the app. This triggers an SMS and App notification to the Requestor. They then select “Confirmed” or “Dispute”. When “Confirmed” is selected, the payout process starts. Deposits are made directly into the Debit Card on file. In the rare event the Requestor is unable (or forgets) to select confirmed on their end, payout automatically occurs after 48 hours. As a best practice, we recommend reminding the requestor when you see them in person to please select confirmed right then and there to avoid unnecessary delays.

In your app, when tapping Account -> Request History -> Completed -> View Request Logs, you will see the following info as to the status of a payout (an an example):

10/17/2024 08:05 PM- Order Completed

Location :123 Main St, Anywhere, USA 12345

(This is the location where the Gopher physically updated the request as completed)

10/17/2024 08:24 PM- Requester Confirmed tor Order Completion

(This is updated by the Requestor)

*IF you do not see this, that means the Requestor has not confirmed the request yet. You still have the ability to call/text them for a friendly reminder.

10/17/2024 08:24 PM- Payout Completed

(This represents the payout process has been initiated and will arrive at either Standard Payout or Instant Payout speed respectively)

Payouts can be delayed for the following reasons:

An expired card, unsupported card, compromised card, bank blocked card and/or cancelled card. (Updating to a valid card will resume any pending payouts, however this will cause a delay that unfortunately cannot be sped up by Gopher, Inc… so please ensure your card is in good standing before completing a request.

We’ve added a new feature for when a Requestor doesn’t know exactly what a fair offer would be for a service. A Gopher will see exactly what is needed and where the price offer is normally listed, it will say, “Make Me An Offer“. If interested, they can accept the request and enter their cost for materials (if applicable) and how much they want to charge for the service. The bid will then be sent to the Requestor, where they can accept or decline the offer.

Home Service providers on the Gopher Go app will find it refreshing that they don’t have to pay for leads to see jobs, they’ll know exactly how much they’re being paid for a job before starting and are paid immediately once the job is complete.

In the “More” section of the app (bottom right icon on floorboard, you’ll see the Help Center link. From there you’ll see “Send us a message.”

Unfortunately, there is no way around this. However, Stripe offers several options to use for verification (Passport, Passport Card, Driver’s License, State Issued ID Card, Resident Permit ID / US Green Card, Border Crossing Card, Child ID Card, NYC Card, US Visa Card and Birth Certificate).

That is 1 of 2 issues:

1 – a photo permissions issue from your phone. Please go to you phone settings, select the Gopher Go app and make sure your camera/photos settings are set to allow.

2 – If the photo you’re trying to submit is in “live” mode. This is basically the equivalent of a video. If you take the live mode off and submit as a regular photo, it will be accepted.

If a Gopher accepts a request, they are expected to complete it. If they cancel the request before completing it, there is up to a $5 fee incurred. Please see our Terms and Conditions for complete details. Please note that when you accept a request it authorizes a customer’s card. Cancelling therefore causes a major inconvenience to the customer. This is the single most reason a Gopher is removed from the platform.

Yes, the counter offer feature is just like accepting a request. If you submit a counter offer, you are accepting the request, for the amount you think is fair and are willing to work for. If the Requestor accepts your counter offer, you’re obligated to complete it.

Gophers can communicate to Requestors through the in-app messaging link. When you open a request from the available request queue, you will see a “Question?” button. This link is to be used exclusively for getting more information about a request and not to ask for more money (that is a Counter-Offer) or exchanging numbers/emails to circumvent the app.

When a request calls for 2 or more Gophers, the Gopher who accepts the request will receive the entire pay for the job once completed. It is the responsibility of the Gopher who accepts the request to ensure they have the additional help. The total amount shown is not then multiplied by the number of Gophers requested, the total amount IS the total amount. If the total amount of the offer is not enough to cover the crew needed in the opinion of the Gopher, it is recommended to submit a counter-offer or to not accept the request. It is very important to not accept a 2+ job if you cannot find the additional help first. Accepting and then cancelling because the specified request criteria cannot be met may cause removal from the platform.

If you are looking to accept a request where a purchase is needed, these require an initial out of pocket expense. This amount, along with the offer, are paid out immediately after the request is completed. You are never required to accept a “purchase needed” request and can always just ignore them (that applies to all requests). Because the Gopher marketplace doesn’t have structured partnerships/contracts with venders and/or merchants, users avoid having to pay extreme mark-ups as a result. When it comes to certain items requested, there are no options to purchase online or through an app, so the cost of goods option is how these are provided. Age-restricted items requested cannot be delivered by a Gopher under 21 years old and cannot be received by a user under 21 years old and must be proven by providing legal government issued identification. Please DO NOT accept a “purchased needed” request unless you have the funds available. This will be an unexcused cancellation and a major inconvenience to the customer, subject to a cancellation fee and or removal from the platform.

Yes, it is always in your best interested to save receipts of items purchased for up to 60 days. Although disputes are very rare, you may need to provide a receipt if a dispute is filed regarding a request you performed.

Albeit rare, sometimes a user will write in the special instructions to drop off an age-restricted items without contact. This CANNOT be honored, EVER. It is every Gopher’s responsibility to physically check for a valid ID before the delivery of age-restricted products is completed. Never feel bad for asking, there are no other legal options on any platform. You can always message the requestor prior to accepting a request to ensure they understand.

Although rare, sometimes the requestor might not have access to their device at the time of completion. Once you select complete, we send the Requester a text and app alert. We continue to text reminders until it is confirmed OR 48 hours passes. In the case of the latter, the payout is automatically initiated. As a best practice, when in the presence of the requestor for a completed job, we encourage you to let them know they will be receiving a confirmation alert and to please confirm it as that is what initiates your payout.

When the Requester submits an age-restricted request, they will receive multiple pop-up confirmations to move to the next step regarding the mandatory requirement to show a valid government issued ID during the delivery. We remind users that with every age-restricted delivery request, they must be present with their ID at the item(s) exchange OR the Gopher is entitled to the entire amount offered for the request. This is not negotiable nor refundable, so if they do not have their ID present, you can select ID not present and complete the transaction, entering the applicable notes. You will see a timer on your completed screen and must allow 10 minutes in order to go by before selecting “Identity not confirmed and completed.” If this occurs, you will still be paid for the entire request.

With Stripe having an exceptional track record of payout performance, the reason a payout would be delayed is easy to identify. Any time there is a delay or error with payout, please take the following actions.

1) Check the card used to ensure it is still valid. (Confirm with your bank the card isn’t blocked, compromised and/or expired)

2) Add a new valid payout card to your Payout Account and set that card as the default payout method.

3) Delete the old card (this must be done AFTER the new card is entered to save your stripe payout history).

Once there is a valid card established, that card will be confirmed by Stripe the next business day. This will then allow any existing payout amount(s) to transfer to the newly confirmed card. This also takes 1 business day. Please try and avoid this reconciliation process if possible because there isn’t a way to speed up the process once the initial payout attempt fails. Contacting Gopher, Inc unfortunately will not speed up the process. Following the above steps with reengage the payout automatically. Reminder this can easily be avoided by ensuring your card on file is valid before completing a request. Even if you have accepted a request, if the new card is updated before the requestor confirms the order, the new card will receive the payout on time. Rest assured that once you complete a request, the money is always accounted for, you’ll just want to avoid delays by keeping a valid card on file.

This could be few different scenarios.

1) Accepting a request triggers the customers card authorization. In the event the customer’s card declines, the request “disappears” so other Gophers don’t see it as available. We then immediately send the card holder info as to why the card declined and instructions on how to correct. If they can fix the card issue with-in 5 minutes, we’ll give you the 1st opportunity to reengage with the request. You will receive a notification if this happens so please make sure they’re set to “Allow.”

2) If 2+ Gophers attempt to accept a request at the same time, the Gopher who accepted 1st will be awarded the request and it will disappear from the other Gophers queue.

3) If the customer used “Select My Gopher” when submitting, and you accepted the request, it must be approved on their end before you’re connected to that request. This, and other important request info  is all communicated in the Gopher Go Tutorial.

4) In an area with poor reception it may affect viewing the request. Something as simple as changing your screen or closing and reopening will refresh the app and you’ll see it pop back up immediately. (This would be applicable only to a request already awarded to the Gopher)

This would represent the user either inadvertently selected the incorrect category or is trying to circumvent an age-restricted category to avoid the mandatory safe-guards in place to confirm identify. If you see this, flag the request immediately. As a courtesy, you can message them to “edit” their request and select the “this request contains age-restricted items.”

Gopher is an instant payout platform and partners with Stripe for payouts. Instant payouts are Debit Cards only. Stripe accepts virtually all US bank debit cards. Because Stripe is a 3rd party integration, they might not be able to verify your card is invalid immediately so please tap on the link provided here to ensure your card is accepted.

The short answer is yes. However, ONLY if you 100% certain the amount listed is significantly off. The cost of items is not meant to make money or lose money for that matter. It is available for customers to purchase items at retail prices. Because there is a counter-offer cap, using the cost of items to circumvent the offer cap is a violation of our terms and subject to immediate account deactivation.

The Gopher Marketplace is intended to be a fair platform for finding services. The cap was created using information from tens of thousands of requests. While there may be a rare situation where a request is egregiously low, you can always message the customer and respectfully explain that you would be willing to do their request for a higher amount than the cap will allow if they’re willing to edit their request and resubmit. That would be up to them. The main reason we implemented the cap was because 1st time users would make a request, for a very reasonable offer (ie: $12.50 for a simple delivery) and a Gopher would counter for $50. From the 1st time customer’s perspective, that’s ridiculously high so they would cancel and go as far as deleting their account. We had to take that off the table.

To find work on the app as a standard Gopher, the answer is NO, the app is completely free to join.

There is a one-time fee to become a Gopher Pro or Gopher Pro+. This is totally optional, however highly recommended in active areas. You can learn more about becoming a Gopher Pro and the many corresponding perks involved here

That sounds like a location permissions issue from your phone. Please go to your phone settings, select the Gopher Go app and make sure your location settings are set to “allow.”

There are a few reasons that would represent not seeing requests:

1) If your Payout Account is not set up, you won’t be able to see full request details. Once your Payout Account is completed, you’ll be able to view and accept requests.

2) Your Work Settings & Radius is not complete. Once you have all of the job categories you’re interested in, and save, you’ll see all jobs with-in the radius you’ve set.

3) If Gopher is new to your area, there might not be any jobs posted currently.

Often times when a customer wants a delivery for an item that can be purchased from several locations, they will select “Gopher can purchase from anywhere.” In this case, the pick-up address will be listed as “Gophers Choice” which means you can go to the closest store to you. You can also at any time contact the Requestor in the app and ask them if there is a particular store they recommend.

Unfortunately not. Each company sets their own adjudication matrix (guideline for making consistent and fair decisions about background check results). We need to ensure that each candidate is evaluated with the same criteria and therefore cannot accept a background check using unknown criteria. One thing is for certain to keep in mind in active areas, the small one-time investment made here will come back 10-fold when you factor in the perks associated with becoming a Gopher Pro.
